Salt grinders are built differently to pepper grinders, and that’s where the price difference comes from.
Our pepper grinders are for pepper only. They use a metal mechanism that is designed specifically for grinding peppercorns. Salt will corrode this mechanism and cause it to fail.
Because of this, our salt grinders are made with a ceramic grinding mechanism, along with a protective liner in the chamber where the salt sits. This prevents corrosion and ensures the grinder continues to work properly over time.
These extra components cost more to source, which is why the antique salt cranker is priced slightly higher than the pepper version.
