Tasmania is home to an abundance of amazing timber species. Huon Pine, Sassafras and Blackwood are names synonymous with quality and beauty. They are used to produce a huge variety of products which showcase their features. Some of the items made include timber boats, furniture, lining and cladding of homes and buildings, kitchen bench tops and joinery, musical instruments and many other pieces in many and varied shapes, sizes and uses.
Here at Tassie Timber things we know it is the little things in life that often bring the greatest happiness. We have carried that forward into the products we make and sell.
We love to be able to use the small pieces of Tasmanian timber that is often overlooked or discarded and turn them into functional and beautiful things. By things, we mean anythings. Mostly pens, which we love. Also stylus for electronic devices, cheese knives with Tasmanian timber handles, tealight candle holders, razors, cheese boards, cutting boards and more.
While we are called Tassie Timber Things, we also make other Tassie Things.
For instance, we like to repurpose materials like old fence palings, which may become picture frames or a timber box guitar or something else.
We have also been upcycling plastic containers. So milk cartons, shampoo bottles, plastic bottle caps have been turned into pens and other bits and pieces.
We occasionally make drinking glasses from beer bottles. Simon fashions cigar box guitar styled instruments from biscuit tins and lunch boxes, old kettles and other tip shop treasures.
I think you get the picture.
A range of our creations are available on this website.
We also sell internationally on Etsy at the moment.
